BMX HOSTS SPECTACULAR MIXER FOR AL SURA, INC., FEATURING SPECIAL GUESTS
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Notwithstanding brisk weather, the Black Men’s Xchange (BMX) sponsored, Al Sura Inc. Mixer was a huge success. A large crowd turned out for the event, held at the beautiful, DC Northeast, state-of-the-art complex where BMX also conducts its’ popular Black men’s affirmation, well-being and empowerment gatherings. Sweet soul music played while everyone enjoyed sumptuous food, cold drinks and a special tasting of Fou-Dre Vodka, owned by Chanel Turner, the first Black woman to launch her own vodka line.
New connections were made and long- time friends celebrated each other. The atmosphere was alive and welcoming. So was the spirit of community and collaboration. The Black Men’s Xchange (BMX), Al Sura, Inc. partnership also embraced and featured the DENIM project, “Developing & Empowering New Images of Men.” DENIM is a community based DC initiative for same-gender-loving (SGL) and bisexual young men between the ages of 18 and 29.
Along with unifying a very diverse Black community, the mixer was a precursor to Al Sura’s February 22nd In Black “Our Legacy” meet and greet extravaganza, providing a Party for a purpose, Al Sura raises funds and awareness to address the need for HIV/AIDS prevention measures, especially in the African American Community. This highly anticipated event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, 400 New Jersey Ave NW, Washington, DC 20001 – from 9 pm to 2 am.
